Hey Joey
I live in West Linn off Willamette drive and Cedar Oak. You will be happy to know that there is quite a bit of fishing to be had around here. From what you said about your gear I think trout or panfish are what you are setup for. First I would by some new line for those rods if you havn't already. 6lb or 8lb Trilene is good for both SM Bass and Trout. There is ton of places to catch SM Bass once the water warms in April. Here is a short list of what I fish with for trout and SM Bass. #4 baitholer hooks 3# 4# leader Smaller treble hooks Smaller barrel swivels Powerbaits Eggs or Dough Orange Chartruse white eggs are good some kind of scent Earthworm, herring, shrimp. Bobbers slip or adjustabobber. 1/2 oz or 1/4 oz slip sinkers. For bass Some senkos or Yum Dingers 3 or 4 inch(plastic worm) Spinnerbaits. They sell generic ones at fishermans and walmart. Smaller is better for SM. Cheap Fillet knife Stringer tackle box or back pack and the final thing for both trout and Bass is WORMS!! They work great under a bobber for Bass. You can Private Message me for more info or about specific places to fish. Once the Bass bite is on I will show you some solid spots.

Joey, ask all the questions you want, that is what this forum is for. I would wait on the Tualatin until the water warms up. Actually I rarely fish the Tualatin before May. It's a pretty easy smallmouth fishery if you like tossing simple lures like Rat-L-Traps and spinnerbaits. Definitely use a boat. I fish mostly from Tualatin Park down to the 205 bridge, but sometimes I'll go in at Cook Park in Tigard and motor up and fish my way back. In the fall I like the mouth of the river the best.
BTW, catch-and-release your fish from the Tualatin. Too much run-off and agricultural pollutants. |
