Saw your post about fishing in Alaska. Pretty cool stuff. Just wanted to say hello and welcome. Got any pics of your Alaska kayak fishing? I just wanted to see how all that rigging on them was set up.

Hey guys! Thanks for the warm welcome. I have been in Oregon for 5 years now, but this is my first season of fishing. I have never river fished in my life, but I love fighting fish and dream about steelies now. I am a pure bank fisherman as I do not have a boat (it's taken me this long to finally get some gear!). So, anyone with any tips or locations I could try near Estacada, would let me know, I would be grateful.
I have included two pics. Sorry JTLunker, but the kayak cannot be seen very clearly. The first is me with my first salmon I caught trolling in a kayak. Second is my first halibuts from kayak. Though small, when fighting halibut from a kayak you swear that they are all 100#+ barn doors. I'll see if I can dig up more pictures from Alaska and post them later. If anyone ever has an open spot or is going fishing in Estacada (or surrounding area), let me know. I love meeting people, hearing stories, and learning about fishing. Thank you for taking the time to listen. Tight lines!

As for the kayak, I just talked to my boss and it is a Malibu Kayak X-Factor. He installed the fish/depth finder and 2 extra rod holders himself. He even attached a sewing measuring tape to both sides in order to meet compliance for chinook keeping. I guess there are a lot of forums out there for modifying kayaks for open-ocean fishing. He said that the rudder is key to successful downrigger fishing as the downrigger will cause you to go in circles (even the drag of the flat line that I used did that).

Sorry about the lack of pics. I need to figure out how to shrink them to fit the size limit.

Cool, nothing sells a thread better than pictures. Glad to help with the site, you can even do movies from there.
