I'm new to the site. As you can guess from my username, I love bass fishing. This is a great site and I hope I can learn from the people here.

Thanks for the plug, Zen!

Welcome to OFF, Bassaddict. Where do you normally get to fish down in Corvallis?

I fish a lot in the Long Tom river just north of Corvallis. There's smallmouth and largemouth in there. Biggest one I caught was about a 4 pounder largemouth.

Where's the Long Tom? I went to school in Corvallis, but didn't fish there much... I got addicted to bass fishing on the lower Colorado this last year, I put them right up there with Steelys (maybe higher, cuz the water is warm!).

Go Beavs!

The Long Tom I believe runs from south of Eugene through Fern Ridge, north to Monroe, continues north a little ways along 99W before finally turning east and emptying into the Willamette roughly 10 miles south of Corvallis east of what Google Maps shows as Bellfountain Junction.

I've never fished it much beyond the area right below Fern Ridge dam as if I was looking for river fishing in that area I usually headed west to the South Fork of the Alsea for some nice cutts.

If you put your boat into the Willy at the Peoria boat ramp and head up stream you'll come to the mouth of the Long Tom on the east side of the Willy. There's a good hole right there for Large and Smallmouth, crappie, blue gill, catfish and sturgeon. Oh and trout too!
