I was darn happy to find this site. I'm always eager to learn something new about fishing or a new place to fish. I've been fishing in Oregon since I was a wee lad. I like every kind of fishing from fly fishing to offshore. Lately I've been trying to figure out the spey rod on the Sandy River. It provides entertainment for the rest of the guys fishing. Most of the time I prefer to fish from a boat as the old knees arn't what they used to be. This summer I plan to hit central oregon hard. Don't see to many off shore salmon trips this year no chinooks and high fuel prices!

Welcome! maybe i'll run into you on the sandy sometime.
I use a fly rod alot, but most of the time I'm not technically fly fishing. More drift fishing with a fly rod and sometimes I use small sliding floats like the thill mini stealth and micro jigs.. Can't stay off saltwater just because of the chinook closure for me, I prefer lingcod over chinook to be honest. |

My fishing spots, well not really local but all have a varity of fun.
For pontoon boat or drift boat on lakes (just kick back relaxed fishing) I like the following. #1 Fish Lake Steens Moutains bows and brookies #2 Walton Lake Ochoco Mountains bows #3 Antelope Flates reservior Maury Moutains Big fieste bows #4 Laurence Lake North side of Mt Hood cuts and bow #5 Trillium Lake South side Mt Hood great view and bows For summer fun and the annual crappie feed my wife and I head up to Prineville Reservior. We fish the log booms by the resort. For trout we head across the lake. Lots of good fishing around the Prineville area, warm sun too. For the adrenaline rush I like to go off shore and chase those crazy silvers. We use steelhead rods with hoochies and no flashers. Those fish go everywhere lots of fun. We take the boat out of Newport, Garibaldi, or Warrrenton. In late August we fish the Columbia out of Warrenton for chinook. Not sure how that will all shakeout this year with ODFW and all. Around close I'll hit the Sandy and Columbia near Troutdale. The retired life you gotta love it. |

I have 5 more yrs. of working for idiots , then it will be my turn. I met a retiree on the Clack last year on a wed. ( I called in sick , salmon fever ) and I was bragging about the 12 nooks I had already caught , he showed me one filled harvest card and was working on his second one. They do not fish weekends so as to leave it to us " weekenders " . I started crying untill he reminded me that my turn was at hand. I love guys like that - and they have a wealth of knowledge.
