Default Leaburg Dam

Fished just above and below the leaburg dam yesterday. My buddy caught 2 trout above and one below on worms. I played with everything I had in the tackle box only to get nothing above (while fishing for trout) and then tried a jig (for steelhead) at Greenwood and got nothing. Fish sure were jumping though. Not sure what kind. WAYYYYYYYYYYYY more fun than a day of work, that's for sure.

The lake is the result of the Dam at Leaburg. Not a huge project as we are used to in the valley, but none the less a res. that holds some very nice fish. They have had a fish ladder for decades but a couple of years the did some work on th dam and installed two new state of the art fish ladder systems and the passage of fish; it is showing very positive results. Not just in the Salmon and Steelhead but the Native Rainbows and some very healthy Hold Over Trout...
This lake is open all year long and during normal Trout season April thru October you can use night crawlers....I am getting goose bumps just thinking of it, this spring has been rather different with the increased flows. The larger fish seemed to move down stream a bit and it looks as if a new gravel bar has started to grow...cool how the river changes over time... Hope this helps - one thing I will share is "Salmon Fly Rooster Tails" 1"-1 1/4" seem to be the best sizes. Work the seams and structure... I caught this in the early spring...Rooster Tail...
