Today it took me 1.5 hours to catch the first fish.

Then after another hour of casting lures with no luck I decided to turn my spinning rod into fly fishing rod. I tied a fly instead of the lure, put a bobber 3 feet above the fly and casted it. The bobber was havy enough to let me cast, but not sensitive enough to see a bite. So I made a little bobber from a bottle cork. Now this one was sensitive, but I could cast my fly a yard maximum. But I was lucky enough to catch this little bluegill.

And this little trout.

Fly fishing can be fun! I definately will try it. Of course with the proper rod.

Then I put my lure back and after some time got another baby trout.

And I saw an osprey dived in the water, and flew away with a nice trout in his claws!

You need to try one of those adjustable water-weighted bobbers made just for this purpose. Nice fish!

curious if you were in the same spot? sometimes you can increase your odds by moving around a bit.

Great fish. nice bluegill, it must be warming up down there.

Big Grin Brooder at JC pond

Went to JC Pond today. Got there about 10:00am. Second or third cast landed a 13" Rainbow. About ½ hour later my friend landed a 16 pound brooder , nice and bright. Several other nice fish came out of pond today

Crappie jiggs behind a bobber or flys have hooked all the brooders at JC pond that I know of.
Most have been hooked 5' to 10' from shore.

BTW Anatoliy, I checked Oregon Fishing Regulations and you can use 3 hooks, a treble hook counts as 1 hook, for all fish except Pacific Halibut.

A split shot and a fly works very well at times also. Just cast and retrieve as you would a lure- vary the speed and method of retrieve often and try near the surface and down deep. I use black or brown woollybuggers-usually the biggest ones for this quite often.
