I did yesterday. I decided to try fly fishing. A friend of mine told me that he caught on a dry fly about 200 fish withing last 3 days!!! And my try was just great! I caught 5 fish all in range 14"-15". And it's such fun to see fish raising, takig a fly and than jumping and fighting. Sorry, no pictures. I didn't think I'll need it. I was not sure if I'll manage to cast a fly in the water. Next time.

There's no better way to build confidence in flyfishing than that!

Default JC Pond

I saw people there the last few times I drove by. Have been thinking I should try it again. What kind of a fly were you fishing? What part of the pond? does it matter?

Also very new to the the fly thing.

Another day at the JCP with my fly rode. And with my camera. The weather was... let's say it could be better. Wet, cold, windy.

But you don't feel cold and wet anymore when you feel a fish on your line

Two guys were fishing next to me with worms under a bobber and they did way better than me.

Well, I said to myself, some days fish just prefer worms. But then another guy appeared with a fly rode in his hand and a cigar in his mouth. In 10 minutes I understood that fish prefer flies. He was landing them and landing and landing again.

Of course I asked him to show me what kind of fly was he using. This little guy.

So I changed my fly and... Fish on!

This one was pretty big so I decided that it will be my dinner. I put it on the ground behind me and kept fishing. After some time I turned back to take another look at my fish and it wasn't there! But not far from me I noticed a bird with a fish tale sticking out of it's mouth. While I was reaching for my camera the tail disappeared completely.

Lost a few fish, landed one more beauty. It was not a bad fishing day.

And a little video clip in the end

Let me guess. Is that a bead-headed Pheasant Tail Nymph in your picture?

It's darker than the ones I tie. Never done a bead head on a hair's ear nymph before. Interesting...
