Sorry to hear about your loss. Great post, espescially the part about the sound that the drag makes as it is flowing out...nothing else like it. Tomorrow is supposed to be good weather again, so give it another shot.

I always give the hook a god set...trout have pretty strong lips, or it seems that they do when I am trying to remove a lodged hook. Still, I have set the hook and had the fish manage to get off at the last second. You just never know. I have got my feet wet more than once chasing after a fish that bails out right at the shore line. B*st*rds.

Those pesky Trout do have a knack for spitting the hook at just the right moment, wish I had a dollar for every one that has got away and the last moment. We call them "early release fish" and a few other names

Today the weather was just great - warm (59!), sunny, no wind. Water temperature - 48 (next to the bank). I don't know what fish think of such weather, but I just loved it. Unfortunately I wasn't prepared for the change of weather so I used the same pink Rooster tales I used yesterday and the day before in cloudy windy weather. And it didn't work at all. Not a single strike (I spent 4 hours casting).

Now, a woman came to the pond (I saw her getting out of her car), spent about 15 minutes casting 10 yards from me and almost made me cry like a little baby...

Did you get to see what she was using ? I once spent the entire day at Dorena trolling, pitching lures, bobber fishing and bottom fishing..with out as much as a bump. Got back to the boat launch and there were these two senior anglers sitting in their lawn chairs on the "Ramp" with a stringer full of fish, go figure.
At least the weather was nice, keep it up.

Anitoliy, Sorry about the bad day. All she proved was that you have to be at the right place at the right time.

Chuck- What you don't know is that they weren't seniors when they started.

Thumbs up

Great stories Anatoliy...You are doing fine..Dont let it get you down..That happens to all of us..Another Rooster Tail you might try that has worked real well for me is the color called Salmon Fly..It will say SF on the back of the package..It is a brown color with a mesh type pattern on it with a brown hackle on the hook..Try it in the same sizes you have been using..Hope it works for you..

Good luck, Andrew
