Default A change in the weather...

Made it up to Hills Creek this morning, was greeted by a pair of dueling Eagles. Very nice way to start the morning, the water temp was 39 degrees at the ramp and the water clarity is starting to fade a bit; a ton of runoff.... Headed for the back of the res. and about two thirds the way back the water changed into this blue liquid, what a amazing color..the temp in the back was 40. The sun was out and the water was perfect, all I needed was a fish any fish just keep me away from the other "Thread" just past the last point on the north shore I get a hit and then another gave the outboard a little nudge and slam the rod goes down. Fish-on now in the net. Funny how after the first fish is in the net the pressure is off and another mind set takes over, found the temp. line and trolled long that until I reached the back of the lake, picking up two more on the way. Once I was in the back you could see the stumps and longs on the bottom and the fish were rising right along a seem..when the sun finely got a little higher in the sky the fish became much more active. Spent the morning tossing lures to rising fish and the afternoon trolling. There were a few bankies in the back and were doing very well. Quite a few boats for a Tuesday morning, I guess everyone had the same thought Plenty of room on this lake for everyone, Salmon at the Dam and Rainbows in the shallows...once the water warms up the Bass will be on the move. Great day on the water, here a few picture from the day, keep in mind my net is 44" across .

Chuck

I know you said your net is 44" across but what's your estimate on the weight of that little beauty?

The net isn't really 44" across.. I think the fish was about 17" long and weighed around 2 lbs. This lake has a nice population of resident Trout in the range of 20"'s, they let you know in a hurry who is in charge. Someone usually catches the pig of the day easily over the normal 20"'s. Catch and release for all non-clipped fish has been in effect for over 4 years now, even the Salmon: very frustrating when you pick up one of those 20" Salmon- you really have your hands full not to mention the meal you have to release.

Wow, Chuck. That place looks really different from the last time I was there I am going to definitely have to make it out there again. I'm glad you were able to stay off that other thread.

We could plan a trip any time you get a free day, this time we won't be out there in a blizzard The water is getting better each week, warming up and turning that crazy color; all most glacial. Send me a pm and let me know your schedule.

Chuck
