Thumbs up Hills Creek in the snow..

Decided to go to Hills Creek today come rain or snow, guess I should be more careful when I speak. The water temp was a blistering 35 degrees compared the outside air temp. That wind with the snow..Brrrrr..anyway I meet Hanapaa at the boat ramp and we started long lining dead down the center of the main res. Wasn't long and had a very nice Chinook in the net, we were assured not to be on the other thread The water was in great shape nice color and very clear, I guess the algae just couldn't hang around in this cold water. Buy the time we got to the back of the res. we had another fish in the net. The wind picked up and of course we had to troll dead into it...then we saw what looked like a floating island....no, it was ice, the frinking lake was freezing before our very eyes. You could all most hear it calling out "Troutski", so we skirted the flow and low and behold a real nice Native Rainbow. By then there was an added 500 lbs of snow in the front of the boat and she handled like duce and a half. We trolled our way back to the ramp and decided to call it a day and count our blessing...The snow never did let up; on the way home I encountered a plethora downed trees and large branches. Here are a couple of pictures, not much but still a great day on the water.

First OFF, I would like to thank Troutski for showing me around and taking me out to Hills Creek. Next time I will have to take a 4x4 or some chains. Good thing we left when we did, as I was able to make it home safe. I did not see as many down trees as Troutski, but there were at least 3 cars in ditches along Hwy 58. Now I just have to cross my fingers that school is canceled tomorrow

Sorry about not having pics of the fish. The freezing temps and snow blowing sideways makes for very uncomfortable picture taking. I could barely feel my hands to fish and I didn't want to worry about getting the camera wet. Here are some pics from when we were leaving the reservoir.

Oh I'm just giving you a hard time more than anything , I've definitely had days where there was no question when it came to the choice of take a picture of the fish or get my hands warm again.

And if anything I'm just jealous you guys got out there and caught something.

Default no camera many fish

I always like to have my camera along for fish stories but at the same time I have some of the worst luck when I bring a camera...

That is the reason I love my Cell phone camera.Even if the Quality is poor, the ability to document a fish is priceless to me! When I get a new phone the camera will be a big selling point for me. I also get insurance on the phone, (5$ a month) ,so I am only out 50 bucks if the phone happens to get thirsty and takes a drink! I only take the real Camera shore fishing for Trout or Bass. Also I would throw a lucky rabbits foot in that camera case to offset the jinx. It will work if you believe in it.

I'm very jealous- some of my greatest memories are of fishing in the snow- although it looks like you guys had near blizzard conditions there! Good job on avoiding that "other" thread.

At least you had water to fish in. I went to a lake on Saturday and 3/4 of it was frozen! Unfortunately the ramp was in the frozen part- so no fishing for me that day.

Cool report
