Thumbs up Early morning in the rain at Hills Creek

I meet Specreck at Packard creek and we were on the water just after sunrise, the rain waited about an hour before coming down in buckets, small buckets but buckets none the less. We headed to the honey hole and their wasn't another sole in site, we started out trolling a couple of my favorite spoons and it wasn't long and we had a double slam right off the bat. You know what kind of day your in for when you start out like that, a very memorable one, even the Otters were interested in what we were using(see pic). Adam caught the largest fish and probably the most, we lost track on the quantity, I can only say that we both did rather well for the weather. A couple of bank anglers showed up in the late am and we could hear them hoot'in and haller'in they must have found a school of nice fatties. We tossed lures for a few hours and then I went to a bobber and he went to a bottom rig. I was amazed at his luck, he never lost a set up on the bottom, he got hung up once and we got the hole thing back. Quite the lucky angler he is, we fished until aroung 1:30 and called it a day, the fish were schooled up feeding on the eggs from the Salmon and Trout spawning up stream, it was a very good day of angling and nice to finely put a face to the name. Being from North Carolina his accent was cool to hear, I'am sure he didn't notice but I sure did. All in all a great day on the water, here are a couple of pictures of the day, enjoy them. The water temp. was 49 degrees at the ramp and 41 degrees in the back, the algae wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, the boat ramp wasn't that bad either, at least after Waldo - that thing is a bugger.

Chuck

Great pictures and action as usual. Hopefully my day spent in the library studying up on trout will pay off in a like manner.

Thumbs up Education.....

EJ you can never get to much education, and when it comes to fish.....well I am still learning. Every time I go out I take notes on the moon phases, weather and water temp. and it does really help. I know for a fact that my high catch rate is in direct proportion to the knowledge I have acquired over the years. Whether it is book or on the job it all helps.
Although the later is much more interesting.

Chuck

Default Many thanks

Wow, what a wonderful first time experience at Hills Creek, I can't thank you enough Chuck for such an explosive day of fishing. I was on the phone with all my out of state fishing buddies claiming bragging rights to the best trout fisheries I've encountered to date. If only every day could be as productive as today, then again, what fun would that be....at least in the long run My wife appreciated my early arrival home too! She was surprised that I was done fishing before the sun was down.... She asked if we had a bad day, and Chuck, just as we discussed I told her, "Yep, rained all day and didn't catch a damn thing." Can't let her know we had too much fun!

Default What A Difference A Few Days Make

Your pictures don't even look like the same lake. It must be the water temp that made the algea go away. It was like an inch thick on Sunday. Glad to see you had a good day. Makes me want to head back up.
