I think Tanner Creek arm has some good shade and clear water, I read that Tanner Creek is the fastest flowing creek that flows into the lake, which might just filter the water through rocks, which makes it clear. If not, just erode more mud... lol Just
Fish the dam, man! It's where all the bass and trout are hanging out, just toss out a 5 inch watermelon senko and you'll hook something when it's falling. Now, it has a well known name as Put 'n' Take Cove. It is where the spillway is, which attracts all the fish because morsels of food flow through, so they don't have to use much energy to eat.

FishSchooler, you're probably thinking about Scoggins Creek. Tanner creek has pretty much no shade and no appreciable inflow, though it was easily the least muddy part of the lake yesterday. Hurray for the entire shoreline being reeds and grass over there, and of course being on the no wake side of the lake also helps. Unfortunately bank access looks quite limited in that arm, though those of you on here with those nifty little pontoon boats would probably do well over there.

So I took the family and ran out to Hagg after work today hoping for some top water bass action. It sure looked like a perfect day for it, the day was long and hot, as the shade came over the water the air cooled off quickly, there was plenty of wind disturbance on the surface, a few waves, but altogether nothing major, but alas the bass were no where to be found. Even the usually plentiful perch were somewhat reluctant to play today, though at least I caught a couple so didn't get skunked.
I only fished the west side of the Tanner Creek arm, and lets just say bank access is generally not good. From the trail you can see lots of promising shore line but the black berry bushes and thick forest are damn near impenetrable. But if you're lucky enough you might find some deer trails that quickly open up into the grass and reeds. All in all this arm of Hagg is most certainly a boat show. |

The dam is where all the bass and trout are, just cast a senko and let it sink to the bottom. Go on bass fishing reports and look for the Fishnmagician, hes great at bassin at hagg.

Thanks for the tip on the dam, actually one of the next places I'd like to try out is the north end of the dam.
In the mean time I'm exploring just as much as fishing, trying to find some good spots away from other people and the boaters. Actually the boaters were one of my main reasons for going to the Tanner creek arm as the last time I was at Hagg I could see the water was much clearer up there because of all the vegetation on the shoreline but didn't have the time to explore down there. Of course now that I've been down there I can say I'm not heading back to that spot again anytime soon. |

One thing to remember, dont fish where the orange bouys are. Fish right out of the line. You don't really need to cast really. cause it is already so deep and the fish just hang out of where the spillway is. Lots o trout hang out in there too. Make sure to pack some rooster tails!

.I also really wish there was a way to fish the bottom of the spill way below the dam. Just think about the size of some of the bass and cats that might be living in the pool down there . |

Not cats by the dam, not enough vegetation, there's just rocks, so trout and SM bass love it! Senkos are the way to go for bass, just let them sink to the bottom of the lake by the dam, and a fish should pick it up on the way down. The sinking of the worm should be around 2 min.(Long!!!) Use some rooster tails for the trout there. GOod Luck

I think you misunderstood, I was saying I wish I could get access to the where Scoggins creek exits the lake, the pool right below the dam and spill way.
