I have been fishing at greenpeter every weekend for the last six weeks. The water tempature went from 71 degrees to 53 degrees. Now the water is so high its into the trees on the bank. I think the snow run off is going to make the fishing a bust. The only way I could catch fish is go north to south in the middle of the lake. I tried every thing and I know this lake very well. I have never seen this lake at this level at this time of the year, ever. Good luck to you all. Im still catching fish, not like im used to. My buddy and I last year had a fifty koke day by this time last year. The only good thing is the floating crappers back.LOL

Thanks for the report, even if it's not the sort of thing we want to be hearing this time of the year. I was going to be in Corvallis Sunday morning and was contemplating taking the family out to GP in the afternoon. Instead if the water is high and cold we just may go to EE instead, catch some bluegill and chase frogs.

Im still going to fish greenpeter but, fishing is slow we caught 5 kokes and 2 planters in 6 hrs. The kokes were real small. A week ago I went with my family we caught 12 kokes and 2 stalkers, 3 kokes were over 14 inches the water tempature was 71 degrees now its 51 to 53.. They dumped a ton of water into foster and greenpeter was getting all that snow melt cooling the water down. I give it a month of warm weather and it should pick up. I will still be going every weekend I love smoked kokanee.

Didn't catch anything but did enjoy a couple of hours out at the lake.
Though I did want to share some pictures Green Peter fishermen might enjoy, both taken at almost the exact same spot, looking at the same location. ![]() ![]() |

The fishing reports from any river, or lake that gets run off from the snow pack have all been poor of late. I don't think fishing's going to be any good until the snow packs are melted. I think I'll have to make a trip over to LaPine and try some of the lakes over there soon!

One of my better days this year on the lake. Boated 14 kokanee and 2 chinook. Lost about a dozen more. Largest koke was 15.75" and fat. The fish were pretty ballistic today as well. Fished from 35' to 60' with most fish coming at 45'. Best lure was Pro-Troll kokanee killers behind a Shasta Tackle sling blade. Hoochies were second best producer. Nothing on spinners today. Tried a new "stink" today and it worked really well. So good in fact I am going to try it again tomorrow to make sure it wasn't a fluke. Wish today would have Kokanee Derby day, I had five that I know would have place easily in the money.

Anyone fished Green Peter lately?
Looking for info and tips for the Kokanee Derby. I've never caught one...yet. Hoping to learn as much as possible so I don't embarrass myself. There is some great info in the archives, but I am looking for recent reports and additional info. Thanks fellow fisherfolk. ![]() ![]() Barb

The kokanee fishing at GP is just now starting to pick up. July 1 boated 15 and lost over 50 more. Best thing I can tell you for info, current success and how to do it, is to watch the archives. Lots of really good info there. ifish is another source of some good info. Personally I won't be back out on the lake until the end of next week, too many comittments, but will post results. Look forward to seeing you at the derby. |
