Thanks again to everyone here for all of the great info. I am in Oregon again, doing my annual family trip, and nailed my first lingcod! South jetty at Newport with a large tube jig that I normally use to ice fish for Lake Trout. Been waiting to scratch this off my list!

I did. I had the filet knife in hand and I figured I would YouTube how to filet a lingcod in case there was something special I needed to do. It was exactly how I would've assumed to cut, and then I saw the cheeks being cut out.

Factoid of the day: walleye cheeks taste exactly like scallops! No joke!
