Default River fishing in/near Bend

Hi All:
There is a good possibility my wife and I will be in Bend during the summer. We both fly fish and particularly like river fishing. What are some of the good rivers in the general area to fish while we are there. We will fish for just about anything from trout to salmon. All comments/suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Harold

Thumbs up Welcome to OFF

Welcome to OFF glad to have you here, as far as central Oregon and the Dechutes River is always a good bet for Trout and sometimes Steelhead. Another place is Fall River, along with the Dechutes coming out of Wickiup res. very nice German Brown water. Maybe some one with more experience in central Oregon will chime in. Tight lines to you and enjoy the angling in Central Oregon.

Chuck

Default Metolius

The Metolius is another great river to fish near Bend, check the regulations closely as many rivers in the area are restricted to fly fishing only.

Default fall river

always a good bet while over there. i used to live about 20 minutes from the fall river and spent many days out there. bwo's, parachute adams and my absolute fav, the black woolly bugger. i always fished above the hatchery up to the springs. there was a real nice hole below the springs that always held a ton of fish, swing a woolly through there and usually the first one fishing it got hammered. when the bwo hatch is kickin', and that was usually a few times a day, we have caught some large fish on sz 16-20 bwo's. unreal to watch em rise to those tiny flies - but they do!
up above is the deschutes i would always go above the reservoirs though. find a spot called the blue hole, and work your way down from there. watch out for the old root holes, or whatever those tripping hazards are, they'll drop ya to your crotch without even knowing they are there. some big fish go up out of the reservoirs later in the year, found some bruisers up there - the biggest i did on a yellow humpy was around 22-24", incredible fish.
thats about all i can tell ya - im sure i know more, just cant recall right now.
the metolius is a jewel - cant drive by without fishin it!
