Doesn't anyone fish in Southwest Oregon? So much good water and so many big fish possible. Either no ones fishing or those that are seem to be doing well enough that they are very tight-lipped.
My favorite spots are Selmac, Expo Ponds, and Denman. All for bass, big bass. Anyone else want to share their faves down here? |

Yes, we fish down here... But when we go fishun' it ain't for crappie, sunfish, perch, bass or bullheads... It's for world class Salmon, Steelhead and Trout fishing up and down the Oregon coast and rivers and lakes...and on the world famous Rogue River and it's tributaries...
We don't waste out time on warm water pond fish......................... |

I fish for those types when the water is too cold for bass. Those others don't charge my batteries like unlocking a bass pattern.

I agree, there is nothing like a great day of bass fishing. I would have to choose I good day of bass fishing over a good day of trout fishing...I don't know about salmon fishing though, never treid it yet....hint hint

I would rather catch a 3-pound bass than a 10-pound steelhead. It's my thing. Besides, the whole idea of standing in crotch-deep ice water for 2-3 bites a day doesn't appeal to me in the least.

Wow! Shazam, who lit your tidy-whities on fire? There a numerous fishermen and women who love the sport of fishing simply because we CAN choose for ourselves what type of fish we want to go after. Whether it is warmwater, stillwater, saltwater or ice fishing, it is a choice. No one fish can claim to be more popular or better than another. Neither can a true fisherman. The best fisherman is the one who is willing to both teach and learn. The best fisherman is one who boasts about how many people they have passed on the tradition of fishing to. The best fisherman is the one who will share not only the location of a new honey-hole, but what bait to use as well as the best technique. I have always been proud of the variety of both speicies and terain for fishing advertures in this state as well as the pride we all take in the sport. I have caught numerous speicies here and in California and have never been more excited than when I was "in the moment" with a fish of any kind on the other end of my line. I will continue to cach and loose fish as long as I can hold a pole in my gnarly old hands.

The best fisherman is the one who gets to cash the check at the end of the tournament!!!

My wife and I do quite a bit of fishing down here. We've fished Eel Lake quite a bit and done fairly well on trout, but I've never fished it for Bass. I think this next weedend we're going to camp at Tugman and try for everything that's in there.
We fished the Siltcoos Lake this past weekend and what a big disapointment that was. We trolled for 4 hours and saw maybe 20 fish on the finder without one hit. We tried to fish down by the railroad bridge for some yellow perch, but didn't even see a fish on the finder or get a bite of any kind. Some other folks were fishing by the railroad bridge and told us that they had been all over the lake fishing and hadn't even got a bite. What's going on with Siltcoos? They only thing that was remotely impressive about that lake is that we seen a seal. Maybe that's where the fish are going. Anyone know where there is some really good yellow perch fishing down here? |
