Be careful and keep a close watch on big flotsam and jetsam in the river.

I sure hope you find a good slot with lots of action!!

Please report back with your results.

Peace, Tom

sorry fior the delay with the follow up. I actually saw a couple tails come out of the water VERY close to shore, but the water is just too high, too cold, and too dirty. There were 8 or 9 boats in the water and when we left we were the only anglers there. I'm afraid that we may not see any good fishing there close to a month. As the weather improves it will just create more run-off which makes the water high, cold, and dirty....kind of a catch22... BUT, the counts at Bonneville are getting better every day so down the Columbia there's deffinately action I just think we'll have to wait a while to see conditions improve on the big W

My buddy took me shad fishing near bonneville and we were able to fill a small cooler, i would say about 30 fish. We used a big treble hook with glo yarn. It was great fun because salmon and steelhead were also biting and gave us some great entertainment. This was the first time i left with a bruised hand and sore forearm.

Glad you got some bait..
as soon as the rivers go down they will be smashing upstream to make up for the missed time.

With the way it's looking we might all have some "sexually mature" (soft fleshed, worse quality) bait this year.

I went to clackamette on Saturday to find the water still vey high and fast. The color is very good.

The usual "slots" where shad like to hang are not there. Just too much water going by. I fished for about 1/2 hr with no bites and did not see any nets flying. There"s a lot of grass in the water. I was below the garbage hole with about a dozen other boats.

Give it a week or so for the water to go down some.

Peace, Tom
