Default Halibut Holes

Hello all,

Just thought I'd pass along a map I found that was published in F&H News with several halibut holes identified. I haven't tried any yet to verify, but this is the only lead I have so far to go after. I know it's not the season yet, but it's good to be prepared! Good luck!

Hi Anatoliy,
I believe it is in May. The season is set sometime in March (I believe) and is usually pretty short. I haven't fished them yet, so am not exactly sure! The ODFW website should have the latest regulations for halibut soon. I've only seen them in pictures too, but am gearing up to meet them in person!

Default Halibut Fishing

I'll be fishing for halibut this summer off BC again and I am looking for a better bait. We use hunks of salmon or halibut in 300 feet of water. Is there a better bait? I've herd of herring but i'm worried about it staying on the circle hook. The time it takes to get down and back up, I am worried about mushy bait and coming off too easy, is too long.
