Default carp

Anitoliy, a few months ago when you seemed stumped on the willy and other creek, you should try bottom fishing for carp. Here in portland Sauvie Island area I catch big ol carp on worms with a size 6 or smaller hook. I have caught some 10 to 15lb carp near there and they fight like hell. I talked to a guy at a fly shop in portland and he said he would fish with 3 hooks at various depths starting on the way bottom. Usually carp bite the bottom hook. Great fun, but only for fun as carp is bad eating.

Yes, last summer I was carp fishing at the Long Tom river and it was fun! They are fighters! But my wife refused to eat them so I had to switch for trout.

Big Grin willamette

here in portland the willamette river is pollouted with mercury and other chemicals. They can in some cases make the fish dangerous to eat. Resident fish like carp are questionable at best. Your wife is smart, trout is for eating.

I am trying to get some pictures uploaded, is there a size restriction?

The system should resize pictures automatically if they are too big. Try and let's see if it will

Default Hi

Hey guys,
where exactly on Sauvie Island you fish for carp. Is the Multnomah Chanel any good?

Actually when I posted my pics of Olalla full size they are like 1900 x 1750 or something and it did not resize them to fit the screen. Just for your info.

As far as carp go, an easy place to find them in the valley is put into the Willamette at Hyak park between Albany and Corvallis. There is a slough about 3/4 of a mile down on the right. It goes back pretty far. There are largemouth, smallmouth, crappie, and huge carp everywhere.

Is there such a thing as a white crappie? I caught one there and it was bleach white. I'll kick myself if it was an albino and I didn't keep it.

There are two types of crappie, white and black. Though a bleach white crappie like that probably has more to do with the water and temperature, just like bass colorations, than which variety they are.

Last year I went to Rooster Rock State Park to fish for carp. I got a coupe of bites but no fish. Has anybody fished there?

Devil's lake in Lincoln city has HUGE carp in there. I have also seen Carp and the Trojan ponds near St Helans. Hope that helps.
