Unless you're fishing for carp or catfish you'll need a boat to fish the lakes and ponds on Sauvie Island. I've spent a couple of days scoping out the Sauvie island area lately and the Columbia river side of it is pretty much flat barren sand, the Multnomah Channel side is a lot of mud with scattered fallen timber. It looked promising but I was running out of daylight yesterday when I was out there. I have no idea about how the access goes for the "mainland" side but it looks even better with long stretches of riprap.

Hagg lake which is relatively short drive south west of Hillsboro is home to I believe the current Oregon state record smallmouth bass. Actually if I'm not mistaken all of the recent record smallmouths have been from Hagg. It's also heavily stocked with trout, and I've heard offers fair yellow perch fishing as well.

And most of the coastal rivers should have the sea-run cutthroats (C&R only) heading up them, starting about now and picking up into August.

If you head over to the Gilbert boat launch on Sauvies Island, they have a pretty good stretch of dock that runs parallel with the MC, I have seen many sturgeon caught over there this spring....but from that vantage point, and the right setup...I could see a salmon hooked as well....at the end of the spring run I saw a boat hook up a chinook right in front of the ramp!...
