Hello all, well I finally made it up here!!! I love it!!! Been fishing the shores for anything biting, with NO LOVE!! So decided better buy a boat. I just picked up a nice used Sea Ray 17.5" in/out drive, 8 hp troll. First time to own a boat without having my Dad to go with me!! But Im gonna take her out this weekend to Detroit for a test run before I try the river. I think Im going to troll for some trout and soak soem bait too. Any suggestions or comments are welcome. I will post a report when I get back.
Thanks |

Detroit Lake is my favorite body of water on the West side of the State. I think you will enjoy it. I only bank fish, but I have heard that the South side of the island has good action, as does the Kenny Creek arm. The latest report from ODFW is that the lake is well populated with trout, but that they are down around 30', avoiding the warm surface water. My secret spot is about 1/2 mile from the dam, and there is usually good bank action there. Good luck, and have fun...also watch out for the County Deputies, as they favor running speed enforcement on the stretch of highway leading to the lake.
