Big Grin Apr. 1st at Detroit Lake

My Dad and I went up to Detroit today, we got there about 11:30 am. The water was a good color and very cold. We launched the boat at the Mongold ramp and were off. We headed to the island and made a pass along the south west side and picked up a 12 inch rainbow. We headed south from the point but nothing. I wanted to head toward shallower water so we turned around and headed north toward the marina. We got a few hits but couldn't hook a thing. As we headed passed the marina more fish started showing up on the fish finder. I got 2 hits but still couldn't hook them. As we headed north toward the bridge I was watching the fishfinder and as we passed into the channel just south of the bridge there's a big drop off. The depth goe's from about 20 ft. to 45 ft. Right there was a large school of fish just laying there. Boom! fish on!!! We started making a large circle around and through that hole and ever pass we'd catch atleast one, sometimes two. We were limited out by 4 pm. After we found the fish it only took us about an hour and a half to limit out. It was a beautiful day but the wind was a bit on the brisk side. All in all it was a great day for the first outing in my boat for the year. I forgot my camera but here's a pic I took after we got home. The fish varied between 10-12 inches. My fishfinder doesn't give the water temp, all I know is it was cold. When I'd wash my hands after catching a fish it made my hands hurt.

Thanks guys, it sure felt good to be back on the water in my boat again, it had been to long.

We were trollin' using lake spinners and wedding rings with a piece of worm.
