This is a few days late, just got busy. We hit the water at sunrise and the water temp. at the ramp was 74 degrees and by the time we got to the back of the res. the temp. had dropped to 50 degrees.
Right out of the shoot we picked up a small Salmon and continued to troll back to the south fork of the McKenzie. Nothing happened until we got to the head of the river and we started casting lures and working the points and drop offs, we managed to pick up a few smaller Trout and one nice one (18") and moved into the deeper water and started bobber angling and the catch rate shot up quickly. We ended up with four species of fish, Chinook,Cuthroat Trout, Rainbow Trout and one very nice Bull Trout. All fish were returned to the water unharmed, the sun was hot and tough to fish in, we tried deep water trolling once the sun hit the middle of the sky and did get a few hits but nothing to the boat. It seemed like the fishing was best in the rear of the res. and before the sun rose high in the sky. There were a few jet skiers and water skiers on the water in the afternoon, we all gave a lot of room to each other. Hot summer fishing is tough on a person and though historically poor we did quite well. Off the water by 3:00 pm and home by 4:10 pm still time to mow the yard and capture some points with the wife so I can go back to the lake early this week. Sorry no pictures but the fishing was fast and furious so there wasn't time to capture the fish in the camera. I did have it with me just to busy trying to catch another fish... Chuck
