Default Fathers Day at Cougar....

Well I made it to the ramp at Echo just a bit after sunrise, what a great place...haven't seen the water level this high in quite a few years. I have fish this lake for over twenty years and it still gives me butterflies getting ready the night before. The water temp. was 57 at the ramp and 43 at the confluence of the South Fork, there was a ton, I mean a ton of floating debris on the lake; stumps the size of VW campers. Some full sized logs just under the surface, not a place to loose your train of thought while traveling at full speed. I spent the day trolling slow and weaving in and around the debris, all that turning gave my lure quite a bit of action. Finely broke in the new rod and reel...a very respectful Salmon, it put the tip in the water and the reel was smoking. The rod was built by Dicroiclure, I designed it and he built it. It started out a 3 wt. fly rod blank, now it is a seven foot trolling rod, with the 13 guides add a Steelhead handle you have a great trolling rod, I put a Depth Master Gold Series Left hand retrieve line counter reel on, just keep the rod up and let the fish fight the rod. When the Salmon hit the lure it buried the tip in the water...the reel started screaming and the smile was creeping across my face. I had the drag set low just to be sure I didn't lose the first fish...who would have thought it would have been this nice of a fish...lucky me. Managed to limit out and make it home before dinner....great day and perfect weather. Here are a few pictures hope you enjoy them.

That first attached image is just unbelievable, that's the sort of thing you see on postcards, and just think we get to see that sort of thing all the time . Nice photos and sounds like you had a good day out there.

Oh and your photobucket link is busted.
