Well, the shad might be all the way up the river now, spawning. Try again once July starts maybe. All you need is 8-14 pound test, some florecent green jigheads (aerojig makes some nice ones) or shad darts, and a 6" long hollow lead weight that is 3/16 inches thick, or a 1 ounce regular dropper or cannonball. Just thread the line through the lead, let about 20 inches of line hang out , then take pliers and squeeze the whole thing, so that it wont slide anymore. Tie your jighead or shad dart, then cast upstream at a 45 degree angle, let it flow down until it is directly in front of you. Then reel it very slowly, very slowly until it is about 9 feet in front of you, then reel it in fast or else you'll lose it to a snag. Look for the spots that that have almost no current, like if the middle is fast flowing because theres no rocks or any structure to slow the water down, cast it in to the fast current, once it's out of the current, reel it in very slowly because the current should force the shad up shallower, then there might be waves created from the current that will push them even shallower, just reel quickly when your lure comes close to the bank. Good Luck and Tight Lines.
