    Wink How do I....

    With all the new members we have acquired the past few months I decided it is time for the "how do I find..." reminder.
    First of all let me say that we are thrilled that you chose Oregon Fishing Forum. It wouldn't be the same without you.
    Please be sure to check the archives a couple times a month for all sorts of information. You will find tips on how to rig your gear;what bait or lure to use for a given species;the favorite bank fishing areas;handicapped access and yes, we even give out the longitude and lattitude co-ordinates to our "secret" fishing holes just to mention a few. If you can't find what you are looking for by just browsing, be sure to use the search function. It will show you every thread with that word in it. You can spend litterally days going back more than two years in the archives. You can go to the members list and find every single post by a specific member.
    Many of our more experienced members are here nearly every day and share or advise all of us on what,when,where,how and why. We are very fortunate to have so much experience to draw from. Lets all make certain we don't make them repeat themselves time after time. It stops being fun and becomes tedious as hell after repeating the same thing twenty times a week. The last thing on earth anyone can call any member on this forum is "elitist". The whole concept of this forum is to make sure each and every member has the best fishing experience possible. The last thing we want anyone to feel is intimidated by any question or information you need an answer to or you want to contribute. Please feel free to ask or contribute,but once in a while, try to use the features I have explained. We truly want you all to enjoy being a member here. The more active you are and post or start your own thread,the faster you will increase your ranking from "Neophyte" to "Master Angler". Remember, this "ranking" has absolutely nothing to do with your personal experience. It is simply a guage used to track how often you contribute,whether with a question or a tidbit of information.
    Also, be sure to check the section heading often. Many times there are several postings on different threads on the same day. If you start a new thread and don't get an answer or response right away, don't be discouraged. Most of the time it simply means a lot of us are out fishing and will not be online for a while. Do check back often and don't be shy about asking again.
    Hope to see a post from all of our members at least once a month. We love our "lurkers" too, most of us started that way.
    Barb

    I just found this tread, thanks barb for the how do i find reminder. As a determined visiting fisherperson, I ended up with a few gps coordinates in my tomtom. I've got dodge park and oxbow park (maybe more?). google earth is a good way to find gps too.

    Big Grin Care more~Share more

    fishinquest;
    You are more than welcome. Have you checked out the favorite resources in the "Other Stuff" thread? There is some great info to be shared there also. If you have anything to add, please do. A lot of people are shocked to learn that our members are actually willing to share the location of their "honey holes". That is one reason I love this forum. Be safe.

    I couldn't agree with you more, barb about the sharing/caring. Friendly people make fishing so much better. It's about fishing, fun, and hopefully a little exercise, not stealing someone's precious honey hole. Since I have yet to catch one from the bank, and only one from a drift boat, I don't see myself as much of a threat to oregon fish
    If any of you are ever in the SF bay area of, you know, that "other country", I'd be happy to take you fishing for striper, sturgeon, halibut, ling, or rockfish. That stuff I got figured out; steelhead is a whole new game I'm still trying to figure out. With the help of the people on this site (there is not much help here where I live; folks here on the eel think I know what I'm doing) I'm getting those metalheads figured out a little more every day.
    I'm searching this forum quite a bit and always finding good stuff. This forum is now my home page! (...hmmm...I think i got it bad...i better get to work)

    Deal! Heck yeah, I'll take you up on the offer the next time I drive my roomie down to Lodi to see her 93 year old mother. Probably early summer. I hate Lodi in the summer! It has to be cooler in your neighborhood. Thanks for the offer. That is the perfect sample of what this site is all about. Sharing & Caring. Be safe.

    Uh,oh...I don't even have an avitar,so I'm not really the right one to ask. Anatoliy or Troutski or a dozen other people could probably give you the right answer. Anybody.................?????????????
