Is there any truth to the information circulating in the boating industry that the new fuel sold in Oregon (gasoline) Methanol is going to promote some problems like clogged fuel filters, rough running and poor performance along with hard starting.

Over all from what little reading I've done it's actually not much of an issue. I found this over on that other-big Oregon fishing web sight...
http://www.uscgboating.org/recalls/pdfs/BSC85_1.pdf pages 6-10 It looks like the primary concerns are: 1.) ethanol and MTBE do not mix well 2.) ethanol and current/old fiberglass gas tanks don't get along |

Another thing you all will find is that your gas milage will drop. It takes twice as much alcohol than gas to go the same distance. I know this from my experience in stock car racing. In the past we all ran methanol. It gives you more horsepower and the engines run cooler but you use twice as much fuel. In engines that are not designed to run alcohol it can cause problems. It's corosive, and will eat up rubber components, like fuel lines. From what I understand they are going to start using a 10% ethanol and 90% gas mixture. I don't know what kind of problems this will cause with this mixture. But it won't do engines that are not designed for it any good.
