You almost have to have a tube or pontoon boat to fish there. If you do go, and are looking for some company, let me know and I will try to come with you. I would love to learn a little about bass fishing.

Minto has some huge bass if you can reach them. I have always wanted to take a pontoon out there, but never have. I used to go to the dock near the last parking lot and fish for catfish late at night, one night I brought my baitcaster along to keep me occupied while waiting for the catfish to bite. I was using a green pumpkin worm texas rigged and I caught the largest bass I have ever caught there, just jigging the worm through the weeds off the dock. I didn't have a scale but I would guess it was about 8 or so pounds. I have also caught a few from underneath the bridge that is about a half mile from the last parking lot. Fishing the weeds and submerged trees near the shore has always worked for me.

I was using yum brand, but I honestly can't remember which style....I usually use a finesse worm, but honestly either should work well since the water there is pretty dirty and full of grass. I wish I still had a picture of that fish, it was quite a bit of work trying to take it with my cell phone in the dark with only a headlamp for light. Anyhow, the watermelon with flake should suit the normal water conditions pretty well, the water there at the dock is pretty green. That same night I also caught a pretty big carp, it was probably around the same weight as the bass. I find that even without a pontoon boat I have had pretty good luck there. The only place I haven't caught any is off the dock near the parking lot off of homestead road.
Good luck! |

My dad takes me out there in the summer and we have caught many bass. I am still in the stage of catching as many fish as i can, so if you can stay concentrated long enough to hook them, you are one step ahead of me. Good population of bluegill and crappie!!!
