Question Tualatin River

Anyone ever caught anything big there? I have gone down to Cook Park in Tigard with my son and we have caught smallies, that were small there. I've got my little boat now, think it's worth a try?

I fished the west linn area of that river for quite some time (from the mouth (willamette park) up about 7 miles.).
2 1/4lb is the best smallmouth I've pulled out of that river, but the fishing is fun and fast on that river.. I'd say 8"-13" being normal.
I lived on the tualitin for I think 9 years, it was 100' walk from my back deck to the river. and right behind my house were several decent drifts with great fishing just downstream.

theres not really boat access down there, except rafts, kayaks, canoes, and little drift boats.. I liked fishing the deeper spots with my float tube.. No joke, I'd anchor in the current and run spinners or jigs. it really did work.
if you dont mind getting wet you can cover a ton of great water on foot in the lower sections of that river.

one of the great things about that river is the species diversity: smallmouth, largemouth, bluegill, squawfish, creek chub, yellow perch, even sturgeon to name a few.

Anyone: pm me and I can give you directions or an address to mapquest for the west linn location I'm talking about..

I fished there on Monday From my Kayak. Put in under the bridge in Tualatin. Caught my first Crappie and Blue gill, also caught a Smallie. Didn't see a whole lot of fish on the finder, I was hunting larges W/ No luck. Look out for the low hanging branches as one pulled one of my rods into the water. Thought it was a goner but my Uncle was with me and happened to have is under water cam in his pack. After an hour of hunting for the rod and half and hour fishing for it, we managed to pull my Cherrywood to the saftey of my boat. Pretty lucky.

Willamette Park is off I 205 at the 10th street exit west linn. mapquest should have it in it's locations database.

I went to your place twice now, it was very nice. My hubby went too the last time and he said it was the cleanest place he'd seen on the Tualatin river. There was a guy with his son there, a local, said he's seen more and more people there but it used to be just a local thing. He was nice, and cleaned up a bunch of garbage other people had left. The first time I didn't catch thing, but it's ok I just wanted to check out the spot. The second time I took my hubby along with my son and they had nibbles. I caught a tiny small mouth, and one that was approx. 1.5 pounds! Seriously, I know you all have caught big ones, but I think that's close to the biggest one I've actually caught. So thanks Oregon4x4 for sharing with me. I'm going to check out Willamette park and another place the local guy shared with me.

There are alot more smaller bass, mostly smallmouth than there used to be. This year my biggest Tualatin River bass was only a 3 1/2 pound largemouth and she was down by the I-205 bridge. Caught tons of 10-inch smallies.

A few years ago, we could fish the river and catch mostly 12-14 Largemouth, but the smallmouth have moved up and disrupted the balance.

Admittedly I haven't fished upstream of Cook Park in nearly 15 years, as I usually launch in Tualatin and never go upstream past the little rapids. Maybe the smallies haven't made it up there yet.

Default "chub fish" ?

I went to the 'spot' in the Tualatin again. I caught a 12" fish that looks like a cross between a carp and a trout? weird mouth with a straight flat bottom lip. My hubby says he thinks it's a chub. Cool though, new one for me!
