Default Smith and Bybee Lake Bassin

These lakes are fairly large bodys of water, and their just north of Portland. So I'm suprised i haven't seen any posts about this area.

Has anyone tried these lakes this spring/summer? Whats the Bass Fishing like?

I put small inflatable boat on the Smith about a month ago. The Lake was fully flooded, so the only fishing accesability was from a floatation device. Lake has tons of weeds and cover. Water was a bit stained and still a little chilly. I dropped rubber worms for about 2 hours and hooked into nothing.

I'm looking to head back there this week or next. Any thoughts, experiences, updates?

being stuck to the banks, i've taken a look at it a couple times this season, and its always looking too high - at least from a bank standpoint.

there's quite a lot of bass in those lakes, as well as some others, but nothing worth eating - bbbbaaaaaddddd water

I hope someone else is willing to blow up a raft and head out on these lakes. It seems like its completely untapped water. High water probably keeps fishing pressure to a minimum, so the bass should be pretty catchable

It's gonna be an interesting body of water. I hear of some monsters rolling around in there too. I'll give updates next week once i get out there

If my memory is serving me correctly it's the old garbage dump.

Yummy. Like the three legged frogs they found in EE Wilson just below the dump.

its Columbia Sleugh water, and yes, there was a dump on one side of it.

I had been looking forward to a pontoon trip there this last weekend, but it ended up cancelled. I've been wanting to get on that water since I started fishing a couple months ago.

I wouldn't say its untapped - saw some GREAT pics from late May, but haven't seen anything else since then. Some good sized fish in those lakes though, much like throughout the Columbia Sleugh...

my dad use to fish in these bodies of water in the early 90's with small spinnerbaits and would hammer them.
